Market data

What mill prices are doing

Producer price indexes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics track what U.S. mills receive for their metal, with a base period set to 100. They show the direction of prices. The price you pay comes from a supplier's quote.

What to give for rebar

Give the bar size, the grade, the length and the count, or link to the bar list or the placing drawings. ASTM International lists A615 as its specification for deformed and plain billet-steel bars for concrete reinforcement. The structural drawings name the bar size and grade for each element.

ItemExample line
Straight bar200 pcs #4 Grade 60 A615 at 20 ft
Cut bar150 pcs #5 Grade 60 A615 cut to 8 ft 6 in
Bent barStirrups and hooks per bar list, linked

Delivery to the site

Rebar is heavy and long. Say in the notes whether the truck can reach the pour area, whether there is a forklift or crane to unload it, and the date the bars must be on site before the pour.

What happens to the request

Shark Metals passes the request to metal suppliers and service centers that can quote it, as the consent line on the form says. A supplier that can quote it contacts you by email, or by phone if you gave a number. Give the ZIP code where the material goes, since a supplier prices delivery from its own yard. Sending a request does not commit you to buy.

Questions

Questions about a request

Who answers a request?

Shark Metals passes each request to metal suppliers and service centers that can quote it. A supplier that can quote it contacts you by email, or by phone if you gave a number.

Does it cost anything to send a request?

No. Sending a request is free and does not oblige you to buy anything. A price and its terms come from the supplier that quotes it.

Can I order a small amount?

Yes. The form takes requests from a single piece for a repair to repeat orders for a shop. Give the order size you expect, so a supplier can tell whether the order fits what it sells.

Can I attach a drawing?

The form takes no uploads. Paste a link to a drawing, cut list or bar list stored in a shared drive or folder.

What happens to my contact details?
