Shark Metals is operated by Automation Research Company, LLC. This notice covers the information the site collects through the quote request form at sharkmetals.com/quote/ and its visit counts, who receives it and the choices you have.

What the form collects

The quote request form asks for your name, your company, your email address, your phone number and what best describes you. It also asks about the order: the metals and shapes, the items and quantities, any cutting or processing, the order size, how often you buy, when you need the material, delivery or pickup, the ZIP code, a link to a drawing and any notes. The phone number, the shapes, the processing, the order size, how often you buy, the link and the notes are optional. The form also records which page of the site you sent it from.

Who receives your request

Shark Metals uses your request to get you quotes. To do that, it may share the request, including your name, company, email address and phone number, with metal suppliers and service centers that may be able to quote it. You agree to this when you tick the box on the form.

A supplier that receives your request may contact you by email, or by phone if you gave a number, about that request. Each supplier handles your details under its own privacy policy from then on. Shark Metals contacts you only about your request, and it does not send text messages.

Where the details go

When you send the form, the site emails the request to the Shark Metals inbox. The site runs on Cloudflare, which carries the request from your browser and uses your IP address to limit how many requests one connection can send in a minute. The email is sent through Postmark, an email delivery service. Postmark says it keeps the content of the messages it sends for 45 days by default.

Spam check and visit counts

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated scripts. To do that, Turnstile reads technical details from your browser, such as your IP address and browser type. Cloudflare describes what it collects in its Turnstile privacy addendum.

The site counts visits with Fathom Analytics. Fathom’s privacy policy says it processes only the IP address and the browser’s user agent string to count a visit.

How long the details are kept

Shark Metals keeps a request for as long as it needs it to get you quotes and to keep its business records. You can ask for your request to be deleted at any time.

Your choices

To see, correct or delete the details you sent, or to ask that a request not be shared, send a message through the quote request form from the same email address and say what you want in the notes. Shark Metals cannot take back a request a supplier has already received, but it will tell you which suppliers received it so you can ask them directly. The law of the state you live in may give you further rights over your information, and you can use them the same way.
